Mountain Guide Andrea Concini
Ski Mountaineering, Courses and Tours
Why do I do this sport?
Enjoying fantastic views. Experiencing the satisfaction of the climb in order to enjoy the delight of the descent. Sking on slopes of perfect snow in breathtaking places. This and much more makes me wake up early, put the climbing skins under the skis and makes me leave for beautiful adventures in a snowy environment. According to me ski mountaineering is and will always be the most fun way to experience the mountains.
Experience
Ski mountaineering has always been an important part of my mountain activity.
I began to frequent this world starting from the easiest and most classic ski mountaineering tours. I gained more and more experience and knowledge of the territory. I got then to ski more and more difficut slopes and gullies, also collecting first ski descents of some aesthetic and difficult walls in the Brenta Dolomites and surroundings.
Working areas
I do this sport especially in the mountains of the Brenta Dolomites, Maddalene and Ortles-Cevedale groups.
Ski Mountaineering Technique
During our tours we will talk about ascent and descent technique, evaluation of snow cover, use of avalanche search devices and the best equipment to do this fantastic sport.

Example of a mountain excursion suitable for beginners (MS)
Cima Roma
Beautiful and panoramic tour, suitable as an introduction to this sport.
We will climb with the Madonna di Campiglio lifts up to Rifugio Stoppani. Once we have put the climbing skins on our skiis, we will start our trip along the Grostè plateau. The view is amazing and the climb is never too strenuous. The view is great over the entire Northern Brenta and the Val di Tovel. Once at the top, the view will extend over the Brenta Centrale, Lake Molveno, Lake Garda and all the Dolomites. The descent takes place along the ascent route, gentle slopes will take us to the Alpine skiing slopes. We will have a refreshing break in the cozy Rifugio Graffer and then we will return to the car on our skis.
Example of medium difficulty mountain excursion (BSA)
Monte Pin 2420 metri
Wonderful mountain excursion to the highest peak of the Val di Non, an incredible viewpoint over the whole valley.
Departure near the inhabited area of Rumo, in the heart of the Maddalene mountain chain. After a first stretch in the woods we will begin to climb up the steep slopes that will take us to Malga Grumi. From here we will take milder slopes and we will get under the final basin of our summit. Another hundred meters in altitude on steeper slopes and we will reach an altitude of 2370 meters. There, after leaving the skis, we will cross a snow ridge and we will go up to the summit cross, where we will enjoy a well-deserved rest in the sun.
Descent for the ascent route.
Example of a challenging mountain excursion (OSA)
Cima Tosa 3173m – Canalone Neri
This mountain excursion offers the descent of a symbolic gully for all ski mountaineers (Italian and foreigners).
The Brenta Centrale will be the breathtaking backdrop of this 2 days in the Dolomites – UNESCO World Heritage. The first day we will go up to the bivacco (a free mountain shelter) of the Brentei Refuge, where we will spend the night. The view on our final goal will be fantastic and we will already begin to enjoy the descent we’ll do the next day. The next day, early in the morning, we will leave by ski. Once we reach the base of the Canalone we will put on our crampons, ski in our backpack and we’ll begin the climb of this magnificent couloir. We will proceed in climbing team to safely overcome the 55 degrees of maximum gradient. Yes, it’s really steep! Reached the summit plateau of Cima Tosa, a Madonna statue will be there waiting for us. Ritual photos and then off with preparations for the descent.
The descent is immediately challenging: the beginning is steep and narrow. After these first 100 meters the gully opens up, the slope angle decreases and the skiing becomes more pleasant and fluid, but we will still have to pay the utmost attention. Only when we pass the famous “knee” we will be able to relax and enjoy the Val Brenta skiing. A look backwards to enjoy the adventure we have just lived and, depending on the snow conditions, we will ski down to the car.
